This lab is an evidence blog for the NetApp Labs and in no way a tutorial.

 Excersice 9: Configuring Storage for SAN Clients

Task 1: Allow ISCSi on the SVM

First, we need to go into Cluster 1

Then we need to edit the svm1 to enable ISCSi

Task 2: Create an ISCSI Data LIF

Now we need to create a LIF

Now we need to start the iSCSI service.

Task 3: Create a Volume to Contain a LUN

First, we need to create a volume for it.

Now we need to edit the volume for NTFS.

Task 5: Configure Snapdrive fro Windows Transport Protocol Settings.

Task 6: Establish an ISCSI Session with the Snapdrive ISCSI Management Tool

Here we made the storage and made a file to test we had permission.

Exercise 10: Managing Snapshot Copies

Task 1: Use the CLI to create a Snapshot Copy

Task 2: Use ONCOMMAND System Manager to create a Snapshot Copy

Here we made a snapshot then deleted them.

Task 3: Configure Snapshot Copies

Here we configured our English projects to show snapshots.

Task 4: use Copy and Paste to Restore Data from Snapshot Copies

Here we delete a file in a share then use a snapshot to recover it.

Task 5: In ONCOMMAND System Manager, Use Snaprestore to Restore a Volume

Here we use snapshots to restore a volume.

Task 6: Create a Flexclone Volume Clone

First, we make our clone.

Now we create the volume.

And now add it to the namespace.

Here we add two shares as mapped drives and confirm we can add a file to vol_clone.

Exercise 11: Improving Storage Efficiency

Task 1: Configure Storage Efficiency Policies

Here we make two policies.

Task 2: Create Duplicate Data on a Volume

Here we needed to create two folders, CourseFiles1 and 2 and copy files into each one.

Task 3: Enable Storage Efficiency on a Volume

Here we apply our Policy.

Task 4: Run a Deduplication Operation

Here we ran the policy which removed the duplication.

This lab was good to do as it taught me you can set up policies to remove any duplicated data on your storage, which in a business environment is great as this is a common issue that can really fill up the storage on a server.

I never had any issues with this lab and it all went smoothly.
